In the South, every walkway invites conversation. Southern streets are alive with the constant exchange between close friends and just as often strangers. As one navigates the streets of Atlanta, there are continuous (often unwarranted) opportunities to engage.
Born and raised as a Southerner, I have come to expect, look forward to the inevitable exchanges outside my door; however, one day I realized car commutes and the daily grind had all but done away with time for these random encounters.
To re-engage in the essential exchange of the Southern experience, I picked up my camera and hit the streets of downtown ATL. The 'Talk to Strangers' Atlanta Street Portrait series is the product of this engagement. Through this series, I have had the opportunity to weave a community with faces I would have otherwise overlook and to learn more about the day-to-day lives of those around me.
